DC CHUMOUKEDIMA INAUGURATES BAMBOO MARKET STALLS
CHUMOUKEDIMA, Sept 25 — Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima, Polan John, inaugurated 20 bamboo market stalls at Kukidolong, New Medziphema (Jharnapani) and Medziphema on September 25.
The initiative was undertaken by the Medziphema Administration with the support of IDBI Bank. The programme commenced with a prayer offered by Pastor Thefu Krodo of Jharnapani.
In his inaugural address, Polan John appreciated IDBI Bank’s support and highlighted the collaboration between the District Administration, financial institutions and local communities. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the stalls to showcase locally produced goods and strengthen their livelihoods.
He assured that the District Administration would continue to facilitate initiatives that create opportunities for people and promote inclusive economic growth. He also informed that solar panels would be installed at the market sites and urged the village councils to ensure their proper care and maintenance for the benefit of vendors and the community.
In his opening remarks, ADC Medziphema P. James Swu said the bamboo market stalls were aimed at providing a platform for local farmers, producers, entrepreneurs and vendors to showcase and sell their products.
He said the establishment of the stalls had been a long-cherished dream of his and former NBDA chairman Albert Ezung, and expressed satisfaction that the initiative envisioned since his joining as ADC Medziphema had finally materialised.
IDBI Assistant General Manager Zubenthung Jami thanked the District Administration for choosing IDBI Bank as a partner for the initiative. He expressed hope that the partnership would continue through similar initiatives and assured the bank’s continued support for the development of local communities.
Following the inauguration, the DC, ADC, EAC Medziphema Vithwel Kweho, RO Thejavizo Nakhro and bank officials visited various agricultural and allied activities in the area, including piggery, poultry, rabbit and cattle farms. (APRO Medziphema)
