UNION HOME MINISTER AMIT SHAH MEETS MANIPUR CM KHEMCHAND IN NEW DELHI
AMIT SHAH TO LAY FOUNDATION STONE OF SENAPATI MEDICAL COLLEGE
NEW DELHI, Aug 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today assured Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh that the Central Government would fulfil the aspirations of the people of Manipur.
The assurance came during Chief Minister Khemchand Singh’s meeting with the Union Home Minister at his official residence in New Delhi at around 3 pm today.
During the meeting, Shah also agreed to visit Manipur in the first week of October this year. During his visit, the Union Home Minister is expected to lay the foundation stone of the proposed Senapati Medical College and review various developmental projects in the state.
Khemchand Singh said Shah had agreed to lay the foundation stone of the new medical college in Senapati district. The State Cabinet had recently decided to establish the medical college in the district, which is predominantly inhabited by the Naga community.
The Chief Minister apprised the Union Home Minister of various issues concerning Manipur. Shah gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by Khemchand Singh and assured him that the Central Government would work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the state.
The Union Home Minister also lauded the State Government for the successful resumption of the Imphal–Dimapur–Guwahati bus service and for ensuring free movement along National Highway 2.
The meeting comes at a significant time as the Manipur Government seeks greater Central support for developmental initiatives and restoration of connectivity in the state.
