Nagaland’s governor praises Indian Red Cross workers’ remarkable efforts

KOHIMA, Jul 28: The 36th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland State Branch (IRCSN) was held at the Dr. Imkongliba Ao Memorial Hall, Raj Bhavan in Kohima on July 27, 2023.

La Ganesan, the governor of Nagaland and president of the IRSCN, and Neiphiu Rio, the chief minister of Nagaland and vice president of the IRSCN, spoke at the ceremony.

The Governor addressed the audience and urged them to pledge their commitment to the wellbeing of their fellow residents and society at large. He expressed his appreciation for the IRCSN’s and its volunteers’ outstanding work over the previous year.

He applauded the IRCSN’s efforts to assist the Solou village fire victims in Myanmar with relief and support, as well as the numerous blood donation programmes.

The Governor emphasised the need of maintaining strong alliances and working together with governmental and non-governmental organisations as well as the general public in order to accomplish their objectives. He also emphasised the necessity for us to create a strong, compassionate society that is always prepared to help and uplift those in need.

The Governor also expressed his sincere gratitude to each and every member of the Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland for their unwavering commitment and selfless service, and he further urged them to uphold the Red Cross’s illustrious legacy by continuing to provide assistance and hope to those in need.

The pioneers and members who have been selflessly and persistently assisting those in need have been praised and commended by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who is also the Vice President of IRCSN. He asked the Red Cross society to collaborate with the government and CSOs in order to assist end the drug epidemic in the community.

MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, former lawmakers Dr. Nicky Kire and Shri H Khehovi, Chief Secretary J. Alam, DGP Rupin Sharma, Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, Commissioner Nagaland T.Mhabemo Yanthan, and the DCs who are also the IRCSN District Presidents were present for the programme, along with other invited guests.

Jakhama’s principal St. Joseph College God’s blessing was sought by Dr. Fr. Keduolhou George Angami, and the Christ the King Church Choir performed a special hymn. The vote of thanks was given by IRCSN Dr. R. Rose Chakhesang, a managing committee member.
