FROM RECRUITS TO RIFLEMEN: ASSAM RIFLES ATTESTATION PARADE MARKS A NEW BEGINNING AT ARTC & S, SUKHOVI, CHUMUKIDIMA
CHUMUKIDIMA, JAN 31: Maj. Gen. J.S. Bainsla, SM, Additional Director General of Assam Rifles, on Friday highlighted the proud legacy and evolving role of the force and exhorted newly inducted recruits to serve the nation with sincerity, discipline, and professionalism as they formally joined the Assam Rifles at ARTC&S, Sukhovi.
He underscored the growing contribution of Rifle women, who have been inducted into frontline duties since 2015 and have demonstrated exemplary performance not only in the North East but also in Jammu & Kashmir, United Nations missions, and the Republic Day Parades in 2019 and 2023. He stated that the presence of women soldiers in frontline roles strengthens internal security and furthers the vision of a women-empowered India.
The Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) witnessed a solemn and inspiring Attestation Parade for newly inducted male and female GD recruits, marking their formal induction into the Assam Rifles, at ARTC&S, Sukhovi, Chumukidima on January 31, 2026.
A total of 282 recruits, including 36 Mahila recruits, marched with impeccable rhythm and synchronisation during the parade, held after the successful completion of 44 weeks of rigorous training. The training covered battle craft, weapon handling, jungle lane shooting, and specialisation in counter-insurgency operations. The parade was led by Captain Anjali Kirola.
The Reviewing Officer exhorted the recruits to keep pace with evolving technology while upholding the highest traditions of the force. The newly attested Riflemen and Rifle women will now be posted to their respective units across various operational sectors, contributing to national security and frontline duties.
Maj. Gen. Bainsla also congratulated the recruits and their proud parents on the successful completion of training and wished them success and happiness in all future endeavours.
During the ceremony, recruits were also recognised for their outstanding performance. The Overall Best Recruit (Best in Physical and Firing) award was bagged by GD Appu Chakma; the Overall Second Best Recruit by GD (Mahila) T. Maloti Devi; and the Best in Drill by GD Bikash Mandal.
