KOHIMA, Jul 19: The District Health Society Longleng, in partnership with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, hosted the “First 1000 Days” initiative launching programme on July 19, 2023, in the CMO conference room in Longleng.
As a special guest, Dharam Raj, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Longleng, attended the occasion.
The welcome speech was given by Dr. Tiasunep, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Longleng, who also provided an informative tour of the “First 1000 Days” through a thorough PowerPoint presentation. He emphasised the significance of spreading awareness of this scheme and motivating individuals to utilise the services offered.
In his speech, the special guest acknowledged the program’s emphasis on people’s well-being and said it was an honour to be a part of it. The programme tries to fight malnutrition, which is still a major problem. In order to promote optimal nourishment and a child’s healthy development during the crucial first 1000 days after delivery, he emphasised the significance of providing for both the mother and infant. In order to ensure the welfare of children, he urged cooperation with the government and recognition of the duties of parents and community members.
Convergence at Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day, PMMVY scheme, Nutritional support during the first 1000 days, and Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) through breastfeeding were just a few of the important topics covered by the program’s presentations.
The programme was thorough and effective because a technical session for healthcare professionals was also held. Attending the launching programme were representatives from churches, wards, PSC, Phomla Hoichem, and line departments.
