SUMI BAPTIST CHURCH KOHIMA CELEBRATES CENTENARY JUBILEE ON THEME “FAITHFUL THROUGH THE AGES”
KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 9:
The Sumi Baptist Church, Kohima (SBCK), has always upheld a clear vision rooted in spirituality, peace, and mission. As it marked 100 years of faith and fellowship, the church reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing believers, serving the community, and spreading the message of love and reconciliation.
Delivering the Jubilee greetings, Y. Kikheto Sema, Chairman of the Centenary Planning Board, reflected on the remarkable journey of the church since its founding in 1925. He paid tribute to the pioneers whose faith, sacrifice, and unity laid a strong foundation amid the challenges of their time. Kikheto urged members to uphold this legacy of faith and continue being a beacon of hope and spiritual strength for generations to come.
The Centenary Jubilee, held on the theme “Faithful Through the Ages,” was celebrated on November 8 at Daklane, Kohima. Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Dr. Khehovi A. Shohe, Director, SBC, reminded the congregation that God remains steadfast and trustworthy even in times of uncertainty and distrust. “Whatever we do and wherever we are, our hearts should carry a missionary spirit, and then we will be blessed by God,” he said.
Citing the example of evangelist Billy Graham, Rev. Dr. Shohe highlighted how God chooses ordinary people for His divine purposes and called on the faithful to remain thankful for witnessing this historic milestone—a testimony of God’s grace through generations.
As part of the celebration, Rev. Dr. Shohe unveiled the Centenary Jubilee Monolith, Dr. I. Lozhevi Sema released the Jubilee Souvenir, and Rev. Dr. Yehevi Jimo, Senior Pastor, TVBC, unveiled the second edition of the new revised Sumi Bible. Special songs by the Khedi Baptist Church and the Centenary Jubilee Youth Choir added to the spirit of thanksgiving.
The two-day celebration from November 8–9 features sermons by four speakers and greetings from church leaders, including Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, Rev. Devanand Kadariya, and Hosheto Achumi.
