DWSM, JJM Review Meeting Emphasizes Inter-Departmental Coordination in Tseminyu

KOHIMA, Dec 18: Highlighting the importance of inter-departmental coordination for effective implementation of water and sanitation programmes, the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of DWSM, Tseminyu, Japheth Woch, NCS, stated that inclusion of representatives from various departments is essential as each department is directly or indirectly involved in works under the convergence framework of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation. He requested line departments to clearly specify their respective tasks while submitting data to the Nodal Department (PHED) to ensure comprehensive and accurate updating of the JJM and SBM-G dashboards.

The District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) meeting for Tseminyu District was held at the DC Office Conference Hall, Tseminyu, on 17 December 2025.

The DC further directed the PHED Department to expedite the certification process of Har Ghar Jal Villages and the declaration of Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus Model Villages in the district. Emphasizing the need for effective solid waste management, he also stressed the importance of operationalizing and managing the Plastic Waste Management Units installed at Tseminyu and Chunlikha Blocks, reiterating that proactive efforts are essential for the success of the system.

The Executive Engineer, PHED, and Member Secretary of DWSM expressed gratitude to all departmental representatives for their participation and encouraged continued inter-departmental coordination to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of water and sanitation programmes across the district.

During the meeting, the Social Welfare Department presented data on the number of Anganwadi Centres and their water coverage status. The Health and Family Welfare Department shared details of Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Sub-Centres along with their water availability status. The School Education Department also submitted information on the number of schools and their water supply coverage.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of DWSM, Tseminyu, Japheth Woch, NCS. (Maghasha, Asst. Director)
