NEW DELHI, Feb 5: Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio on Thursday described the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Government of India, the Government of Nagaland and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) as a historic step towards equitable and inclusive development in the state.

Addressing the gathering at the signing ceremony in New Delhi on 5 February 2026, Dr. Rio said the agreement for the formation of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority within Nagaland reflects the state government’s continued efforts to reach all regions and ensure balanced growth.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their support and leadership in making the agreement possible. He also thanked the Union Home Secretary, state government officials led by the Chief Secretary, and the ENPO leadership for their cooperation in achieving what he termed a landmark milestone.

Dr. Rio said the agreement symbolises mutual trust among all sections of society and will address the long-standing aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland, while benefiting the state as a whole by bringing development closer to citizens.

He congratulated the people of Eastern Nagaland on the occasion and commended them for their perseverance in pursuing the agreement. Calling it a victory for the entire Naga society, he said, “This is not just an achievement for the eastern people, but for all Nagas.”

Assuring full cooperation from his government, the Chief Minister said the state would work collectively to ensure progress and development for every section of Naga society.
