PM Addresses Media Ahead of Budget Session 2026
NEW DELHI, Jan 29 (NEPS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media before the start of the Budget Session of Parliament 2026 at the Parliament premises today. He said that the President’s Address reflected the confidence of 140 crore citizens, their hard work and the aspirations of the youth of the country.
He noted that the President had placed before Members of Parliament several guiding points at the very beginning of the session and the year 2026. The Prime Minister said that the expectations expressed by the Head of State in simple words would be taken seriously by all MPs, making the Budget Session a very important one.
Describing the session as historic, Modi said it marked the completion of the first quarter of the 21st century and the beginning of the second. He underlined that the next 25 years are crucial for achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047, and that this Budget is the first of the new quarter of the century.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Union Budget for the ninth consecutive time, calling it a proud moment in India’s parliamentary history.
Stating that the year has begun on a positive note, Modi said that a confident India is emerging as a ray of hope and a centre of attraction for the world. He referred to the Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union, saying it reflects a bright future for the country’s youth and opens new opportunities.
He described the agreement as “free trade for an ambitious India” and said it would benefit aspirational youth and strengthen Atmanirbhar Bharat. He expressed confidence that Indian manufacturers would enhance their capacities and urged them to focus on quality to succeed in the large European market.
Modi said the agreement with 27 EU nations brings immense opportunities for fishermen, farmers, youth and those in the services sector. He said that Indian brands, aligned with the nation’s brand, would gain new prestige globally.
Emphasising the government’s identity of Reform, Perform and Transform, the Prime Minister said the country is moving rapidly on the “Reform Express” towards long-term solutions that build predictability and global trust. He thanked Members of Parliament for their support in accelerating reforms.
He stressed that all decisions aimed at national progress are human-centric. While embracing technology, he said the government would not compromise on human values and would continue focusing on last-mile delivery so that benefits reach people and not just files.
