KOHIMA DLCC MEETING ON CIVIL REGISTRATION SYSTEM (CRS) HELD

KOHIMA, Jul 18 (NEPS): On July 17, 2023, in the DC’s Office Chamber in Kohima, the Kohima District Level Coordination Committee met to discuss the Civil Registration System (CRS), which covers births and deaths.

While presiding over the meeting, Shanavas C. IAS, the District Chief Registrar and Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, advised that the Economics & Statistics Department disseminate information on birth and death registrations in local dailies and print publications. Additionally, he advised good collaboration between line departments to ensure the system’s flawless operation and suggested setting up awareness campaigns to inform the public about the importance of prompt registration, according to the DIPR report.

An earlier report on Births & Deaths in the Kohima District was given by Chongti, FI, of the District Economics & Statistics Office.

Apart from births, Chongti emphasised that reports on deaths are not routinely given to the department, resulting in errors in data collecting. Chongti asked the DC to send a memo to all Kohima District offices requesting that they report deaths to the appropriate department. Agenda items for the appointment of Registrars and Online Registration were also discussed at the meeting.

It is important to note that the Kohima District has 17 Registrars and 129 Registration Units. If all of the required documentation is valid and legitimate, interested parties may access “crsorgi.gov.in” to begin the public registration (online registration) process.
