TRAINING FOR MTS FOCUSES ON DISCIPLINE AND SANITATION PRACTICES

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 23: Secretary Home to the Government of Nagaland, Elizabeth Ngullie, said continuous training is essential for Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) to remain updated and enhance their efficiency within the Nagaland Civil Secretariat.

She was addressing Supervisors, Sardars, and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), including Peons, Chowkidars, Sweepers, and Malis (Batch 3), during a capacity-building training programme held at the Conference Hall of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat on Monday.

The programme was organised by the Secretariat Administration Branch “B”, Home Department, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with Living for Environment (LiFE) NGO, with the objective of sensitising staff on discipline, service rules and modern sanitation practices.

Ngullie emphasized that all government servants are governed by the Nagaland Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1967, and the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1968, and must strictly adhere to these regulations. She underscored the importance of punctuality, proper conduct and responsible discharge of duties.

Highlighting the responsibilities of MTS personnel, she said their work includes maintaining cleanliness, handling files and records, operating office equipment, photocopying, and assisting in overall office management. She urged them to perform their duties sincerely and safeguard government property, cautioning against misuse of office assets and careless handling of electrical appliances.

She also stressed the importance of wearing uniforms during office hours for proper identification and maintaining discipline within the Secretariat premises. Further, she informed that timely submission of Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) is necessary to ensure smooth record-keeping and future career progression.

Resource person Niksungla, Founder-Chairman of Living for Environment (LiFE), provided practical training on effective waste management, modern cleaning techniques, workplace etiquette, personal hygiene and safety measures, aimed at strengthening sanitation standards and professional work culture within the Secretariat.

The training sessions are being conducted daily from February 16 to 26 at the Conference Hall of the Civil Secretariat from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
