CM Flags Off ALS Ambulances Under IDAN–Toyota CSR in Nagaland

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, FEB 12: Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, on 12 February 2026 flagged off Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances under the IDAN–Toyota CSR Initiative, marking a major boost to emergency healthcare services in the State.

The Asset Handing Over Ceremony was held at Zone Niathu by The Park, Chümoukedima, where critical healthcare and education assets were formally transferred to beneficiary institutions across six districts.

Addressing the gathering as special guest, Dr. Rio lauded the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited for their sustained partnership. He said the deployment of ALS ambulances would significantly strengthen emergency response systems and help save lives.

He noted that Toyota’s CSR partnership over the past three years has contributed to youth development, sports, and emergency services, and praised the company for providing premium public service assets.

Dr. Rio also highlighted Nagaland’s deep cultural ties with Japan, recalling that the partnership was formally celebrated during the Forest Festival 2024. He spoke about peace initiatives, educational exchanges, and the growing number of Naga youth working in Japan. He further stated that Nagaland’s literacy rate has risen from 22 percent in 1962 to 96 percent today, among the highest in the country.

Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home & Border Affairs, Y. Patton, expressed appreciation to Toyota and IDAN for their collaboration under the leadership of Dr. Rio. He said the initiative would save time, improve emergency response, and directly benefit citizens.

Patton informed that the project covers Kohima, Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Tseminyu and Zunheboto. Under the healthcare component, ALS ambulances were provided to four healthcare centres along with medical and non-medical equipment across 11 institutions. Two government schools were also supported under the education component with furniture, sports equipment and kitchen items.

He emphasized that the assets are public property and must be maintained and utilized responsibly.

Vikram Gulati, Executive Vice President & Country Head – Corporate Affairs & Governance, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, highlighted Toyota’s commitment to community welfare through CSR.

The programme opened with remarks by Abu Metha, Chairman, IDAN and Advisor to the Chief Minister. The ceremony concluded with the formal asset handover and flagging off of ALS ambulances. (Limatoshi, IA Chümoukedima)
