LT GEN BEDI, CHAIRMAN OF CFMG/CFSB, SAYS NSCN (KHANGO) AGREES TO FIX CURRENT ISSUE WITH KKB RULHO FIRM AS EARLIEST POSSIBLE

KOHIMA, Aug 3 (NEPS): The NSCN (Khango) assured to abide by the provision of the Cease Fire Ground Rules, according to Lt Gen Amarjeet Singh Bedi, Chairman of the Cease Fire Monitoring Group and Cease Fire Supervisory Board (CFMG/CFSB).

At a press conference held here on Saturday, August 3, 2024, General Bedi revealed this. He said that the CFSB met today, which was attended among others by representatives of the NSCN (Khango) and Nagaland DGP. The meeting questioned the group about the threat of the death penalty given to Kezhaleo Rulho, the owner of M/S KKB Rulho Firm, he added.

It may be mentioned that following the “death penalty/capital punishment” issued to the proprietor of M/s KKB Rülho, the Angami Youth Organization (AYO), at a press conference on July 28, 2024, declared that all Angami villages will initiate non-cooperation towards NSCN-(Khango) group until such time the issue was resolved.

The CFSB Chairman stated that despite not receiving any complaints regarding the current imbroglio involving the NSCN (Khango), the CFMG Office has taken suo moto cognizance due to the media reporting. The CFMG headquarters had been keeping a close eye on this matter, and the organization was held accountable for adhering to the “provisions of Ceasefire Ground Rules,” he continued.

The NSCN (Khango) wrote a response during the meeting, stating that their organization “functions purely on voluntary contributions and their statement to apprise Mr. Kezhaleo Rulho, proprietor of M/S KKB Rulho Firm of certain provisions of their Government Yezhabo have been misinterpreted as Life/Capital Punishment threat.”

The Nagaland Police have also been asked to conduct a comprehensive inquiry on the issue. Anyone found guilty would be punished as per the law.

Gen Bedi said the group also assured the CFSB that they would follow all the guidelines in the Ceasefire Ground Rules and work quickly to find a solution with the concerned parties.

To guarantee that a calm atmosphere persisted in Nagaland for the settlement of the Naga political question, Gen. Bedi stated that the Ceasefire mechanism served as a collaborative forum and amicably settled divergent opinions and contentious issues of the Ceasefire Agreement.
