Multi-Purpose Building cum Office of Naga Hospital Colony Panchayat, Kohima dedicated

KOHIMA, Aug 19 (NEPS): Today marks the dedication of the Panchayat Multi-Purpose Building cum Office of the Naga Hospital Colony Panchayat at the Naga Hospital Colony in Kohima.

Chairman of the Naga Hospital Colony Panchayat, Kohima, Vizetuo Solo, opened the Multi-Purpose Building cum Office and proclaimed the day “red letter Day” for the residents of the Naga Hospital Colony. Due to the Colony residents’ harmony and unity, he said, they could realize their aspiration of owning their own Panyachat Building (Multi-Purpose Building cum Office). He expressed his gratitude to each and every member of the Colony for their contributions.

The Chairman narrated how the Naga Hospital Colony Panchayat came to be from the Naga Hospital in Kohima. He recounted how the Naga people had assisted the British troops in their battle against the Japanese troops at Kohima during World War II. The British India Government gave this Naga Hospital to Kohima as a thank you to the Naga people for their assistance during World War II, he explained.

Solo stated that T Khel donated the land for the establishment of the Naga Hospital Kohima and went on to say that throughout the years, this hospital had gained a lot of not just in Nagaland but also in other regions of the North East and the rest of the country.

He added that this very Naga Hospital Kohima would serve as the foundation for Nagaland’s first medical college. We are extremely thrilled about this, he said, adding that the residents of the colony will always support and cooperate fully with the operation of the medical college.

Solo recalled the history of the Panchayat’s founding in 1973 and paid rich respect to its pioneers, assuring them that they would uphold their legacy and work for the welfare and prosperity of the Colony’s residents.

The Panchayat Chairman also congratulated the leaders and members of the Panchayat, the women’s group, the youth group, the traders’ community, the sanitation committee, and those well-wishers for their selfless dedication and sacrifice for the development and advancement of society.

The Welcome Address was given by Teisobou Sekhose, Vice Chairman of the Naga Hospital Colony Panchayat.

The Panchayat Multi-Purpose Building Cum Office construction cost has been laid out in detail by Seyiekhriezo Suohu, convenor of the building committee.

A One-Minute Silence was observed earlier by the program’s chairman, Kekhriengulie Khezhie, to honor the memory of previous Panchayat of Naga Hospital Colony leaders who guided and worked for the community’s welfare.

During the program, honorees included dignitaries, leaders of the Naga Hospital Colony Panchayat, leaders of other Colony Panchayats, leaders of the Naga Hospital Colony Youth Organization, leaders of the Naga Hospital Women Organization, former MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro, and Association of Kohima Municipal Ward Panchayat (AKMWP) President Thejao Sekhose.

The program drew a sizable audience from the Colony.
