KOHIMA,Jun 22: Workshop cum Training Orientation on Housing & Buildings Construction Statistics for the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland held at Conference Hall, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Kohima on 22 June 2023. The programme was organized by Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Nagaland in collaboration with National Building Organization, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India.
Secretary, Economics & Statistics, Mohammed Ali Shihab, in his keynote address said that such kind of workshop, orientation and training, which involves other neighbouring states happens rarely and requested all the delegates to make maximum advantage of such gathering. India is going to celebrate its 100 years of Independence in the year 2047 and is planning to declare as developed country but rapid migration of citizens from rural to urban areas results the rapid urbanization and it is a challenge to achieve the vision that needs effective and efficient policies, he said. Development of the all the states is not uniform in every part of the country and the understanding of how development processes are in other states need insight and NBO, as a Central Nodal Agency, needs clarity, he added. Shihab also said success lies in logic basing on ABC which stand for Awareness, Belief and Commitment and the idea of workshop is to achieve the logic with teamwork and to have fruitful understandings.
Joint Director, NBO, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, GoI, Basudeb Das in his speech highlighted the details of NBO, work functions and also its role and responsibilities toward the statistics collection of the building materials in details. He also stressed that the NBO is a custodian of housing building material statics with a vision of housing for all.
Scarcity of land for the construction of building of structure is also a problem of the current scenario of the state, so the practical maintenance of the practical data is very important, he said. Das added India is one such nation in the world that maintain strict statistical data that too in public domain for which practical data needs to be strictly capture and missing of the correct data need not be occurred, for that channelizing of MIS from the lower grass root to upper top is very important.
