KOHIMA, Jun 13: Apart from being the largest youth organization in the country and a feeder organization of Uniformed Forces, National Cadet Corps has produced several illustrious Indians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As per the ‘Panch Pran’ vision of the PM, NCC is also modernizing its approach towards youth capacity building during the ‘Amrit Kaal’, the Golden Era India is ushering into.
NCC is now embarking onto the ‘Youth Empowerment’ arena by way of skill development, domain-specific training, placement guidance, and assistance in collaboration with various corporates and skill development centers.
This was announced by Brig PS Sangwan, Group Commander, NCC Group Kohima in an event at the mega NCC Camp in progress in Wokha. He highlighted the efforts by the NCC to rope in institutes that provide training and placement assistance under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna and other Government schemes in Airlines, Hospitality, and other industries. He also informed the cadets about the tie-up with ITC Hotels to select, train and employ NCC cadets under the ‘We Shield – Loss Prevention Training Program’.
The Group Commander called upon the cadets to utilize such opportunities to train themselves at subsidized costs and chart their path to a successful career in well-paying industries. He also requested the cadets to motivate other students to join NCC and be part of the humongous development the country is witnessing during the ‘Amrit Kaal’ period.
The event was attended by more than 520 NCC cadets who have been training in the Mega NCC Camp that started on 07 Jun 23 under the aegis of 25 Naga Bn NCC, Mokokchung.
Speaking to the media after the event, Brig Sangwan informed that the highly skilled and disciplined Naga cadets are being provided with a multitude of opportunities for personal and professional growth through many such initiatives from time to time.
NCC is also planning to conduct a ‘Know Your NCC’ campaign wherein Info Kiosks and Stalls will be established in places of high footfall like ‘Hornbill Festival’ etc to showcase the history and achievements of NCC and the opportunities that are provided to the youth to enhance their overall personality, skill sets and help them achieve a bright future, significantly contributing to nation building.
The Group Commander also extended his gratitude to IGAR (N), Assam Rifles for making the premises available to hold the camp and to the Commanding Officer, 40 Assam Rifles for the active support for the smooth conduct of the camp.
