KOHIMA, Nov 1 (NEPS): P.B Acharya, Governor of Nagaland was the Chief Guest in a program Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living “Knowing North East – Knowing India” at Baba Farid Institute of Technology(BFIT), Dehradun held on 31 October 2018.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said: “very few people know the culture, traditions, and problems faced by the people of North East.” “North East is an integral part of India,” he said.
He opined it was the responsibility of the mainland people to visit North East and experience the food habits, culture, tradition, living style, etc. of North East people.
Acharya personally invited Joginder Singh Arora, Chairman of BFIT Group of Institutions, to visit Nagaland and open a branch of their Institute in Nagaland for the benefit of the students of Nagaland in particular and North East in general. He urged the Chairman to work out Student/Faculty exchange program so that the Students/faculty could understand and know the culture and tradition of each other.
During the program, students studying in Dehradun from North East were given chance to express their views and problems.
The organisers and BFIT officials felicitated the Governor and his Lady wife Kavita Acharya with bouquet and mementos during the program.
After the program, the Governor interacted with office bearers of Naga Students Union Dehradun (NSUDD) led by its Vie-President, Neisazo Yashü. The students were encouraged to take up their studies seriously and come back to Nagaland after completion of their studies to strengthen the Society.
The Lighting of the Lamp was done by the Chief Guest. Cultural performances were presented by students from Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, and Uttarakhand which added colour to the program.
