Empowering Futures: Inaugural Mega Job Expo 2024 Connects Careers in Mokokchung, Nagaland

KOHIMA, January 31: The inaugural day of the 1st Mega Job Expo 2024, was organized by Mokokchung District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) and District Skill Committee, on January 30, 2024, at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, under the theme “Connecting Careers.” Advisor of Water Resources and Chairman of DPDB, Mokokchung, Tongpang Ozukum graced the occasion as the special guest.

In his address, Tongpang Ozukum commended the organizers for their initiative in hosting the two-day Mega Job Expo, acknowledging the employment landscape in Nagaland. Despite being a small state, Nagaland boasts the highest ratio of government employees, a sector that has reached its saturation point. He highlighted the government’s efforts to streamline the workforce due to a significant portion of development funds being allocated to salary payments. Ozukum urged the youth to explore opportunities in the private sector, emphasizing the equal opportunities available there. He stressed the importance of working in diverse environments to comprehend the true essence of ‘work culture’ and the ‘value of money.’ Encouraging the youth to align their careers with their skill sets, he hoped that the expo would be beneficial for job seekers.

The Mega Job Expo, organized in collaboration with Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Business Association of Nagas (BAN), and Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, has garnered support from partners like Assam Rifles, Mokokchung Channel, Tir YimYim, and The Morung Express. The primary objective of the expo is to facilitate employment opportunities for the state’s unemployed youths, with 28 partnering companies offering job opportunities during the two-day event.

Dr. Limasenla Jamir hosted the program, with Thsuvisie Phoji, Deputy Commissioner, and Chairman of the Planning Committee, delivering the welcome address. Er. T Imlisunep Ao, Secretary of the Planning Committee, presented the keynote address. Short speeches were delivered by Vinod Kumar, Vice Principal of Fazl Ali College, Mongkum Jamir, President of BAN, and Takumi Ishiwatari, Japanese Teacher at Arms Nagaland Centre. The vote of thanks was pronounced by P.Tiatemsu, a member of the Planning Committee.
