KOHIMA, Mar 2 (NEPS): With barely three months left to India’s general elections to the 17th Lok Sabha, global search giant Google has launched massive training programs called “Google News Initiative (GNI) – Pollcheck, Covering India’s Elections” for the thousands of journalists across the country.
As part of this nation-wide training program, GNI has conducted a day-long training program for the journalists in Kohima at the Eastgate Hotel, Kohima on March 2, 2019 with Kallol Dey, senior journalist and trainer, imparting them for ‘Pollcheck Kohima: Covering India’s Election.’ He is one of the trainers of GNI India Training Network.
GNI, in partnership with DataLeads and Internews, has launched ‘PollCheck: Covering India’s Election,’ to train journalists covering India’s elections.
In this digital age and when the elections are basically fought through the Social Media platforms, the journalists covering the upcoming general elections in the country cannot be left without in-depth and hands-on verification trainings to fight against the deluge of fake news, misinformation and disinformation, he explained.
Dey showed as to how the journalists could use their iPhones for Live coverage of various events including election trails through the YouTube Live, and also to create better videos, get more subscribers, and take their channel to the next level with the YouTube.
He also showed how to check fake videos coming in various Social Media sites including YouTube.
Large number journalists in Kohima attended the GNI training program.
