Nagaland GBs urged Governor to request Center to invite NSCN-GPRN led by Khango Konyak for talks

KOHIMA, Nov 21 (NEPS): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya said the GBs had been playing a vital role in the governance of the State.

Meeting office bearers of the Nagaland GB Federation at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on Wednesday, the Governor said that GBs’ role was an essential component of the State Government.

Appreciating the efforts of GBs in the State in working towards creating a peaceful atmosphere and contributing towards Nation building, Acharya said GBs were the main people to build their villages.

Calling upon the members to be “agents in informing the targeted people of the various Central and State Government welfare schemes and programs,” the Governor said in such a way, development and progress would reach to the society.

He encouraged the Federation to continue their tireless work in creating a peaceful atmosphere in the State. Stating that peace was the need of the hour in the State, he said the peace process was moving in the right direction and hoped that a settlement would be reached at the earliest.

The Nagaland GB Federation also submitted a memorandum to the Governor requesting him to appeal the Government of India to officially invite the NSCN-GPRN led by Khango Konyak for the peace talk at the earliest. The Nagaland GB Federation was led by the President, Shahlem Konyak.

Acharya also expressed his appreciation towards the Naga Mothers Association for their role in promoting peace and harmony in the State.
