KOHIMA, Nov 17 (NEPS): Governor of Nagaland has formally launched a news Portal in the name and style of Kohima Raj Bhavan Journal with its website – www.kohimarajbhavanjournal.in in a grand function held here at the Raj Bhavan Kohima on Saturday.
The portal is owned, controlled, edited and published by NEPS Media Group.
It was launched in presence of the media fraternity and the officials of the Raj Bhavan Kohima. The Governor expressed his happiness on the successful launching of the news Portal as it would now be easier for the people to read the activities of the Governor and the importance of the Raj Bhavan.
Launching the Portal, the Governor explained that though he was the custodian of the Constitution and the democracy, the role of him was immense for the development in the State. “The Governor is the ambassador of development,” he said adding that now with the new Portal coming up, there would be a flow of news of what the Governor had been doing – be it within the Raj Bhavan or outside the Raj Bhavan.
Stating that the web portal was being launched befitting to the National Press Day which was observed yesterday, Acharya said they had to outreach their responsibilities and duties. “The politicians would do their best to propagate their political and social agendas. Millions of Facebook users also systematically use the Social Media sites (Facebook) to promote their commercial ventures while maintaining their Online Publications. Various professionals will have their websites and while sharing them in their Social Media sites,” he said.
He expressed his happiness to note that Kohima Raj Bhavan Journal also has its Social Media Account as www.facebook.com/kohimarajbhavanjournal which has also been maintained by NEPS Media Group.
He said since the advent of Facebook, the communities of the world were more connected than ever before. “The boundaries have virtually disappeared and the world communities become one family,” he said.
Acharya expressed the hope that the Online Publication of Kohima Raj Bhavan Journal through its Portal www.kohimarajbhavanjournal.in and simultaneously appearing all in the Social Media sites connected with the Portal would definitely reach to every nook and corner of the State as well as the country and the world as well.
He thanked Oken Jeet Sandham, NEPS News Editor, who is also the Head of NEPS Media Group, for making the Kohima Raj Bhavan Journal Portal possible. “I felt that it was a novel idea and I liked its independent nature,” he said. “The maintaining and functioning of the website of the Kohima Raj Bhavan Journal is purely their lookout and the Raj Bhavan has no connection whatsoever.”
Principal Secretary to Governor, Piyush Goyal, IAS also shared on the importance of the portal.
Giving background of the news Portal of the Kohima Raj Bhavan Journal, Oken Jeet Sandham said the idea was with some of the senior media personnel working with the NEPS News and its Group for quite some time.
He disclosed that they had approached the Governor with the idea and the latter was happy with the idea as it would not only serve good to the readers and also disseminate to other publications – be it State, Regional, National and International publications.
Kohima Press Club General Secretary Alice Yhoshu chaired the launching function.
