KOHIMA, Oct 23: The 11 Adventure Camp organized by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports under the National Program for Youth & Adolescent Development (NPYAD) Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India was flagged off by Adviser, Youth Resources & Sports, Er. Zale Neikha on 23 October, 2018 at John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema.
On the occasion, Neikha expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India for granting sufficient funds for the program. He said the main objective of the program was to develop leadership qualities and personal development through active participation in sports & games besides fostering the spirit of adventure. He also mentioned that organizing such events and participating in such activities would facilitate harmony and tranquility among the youth thereby promoting and propagating national integration at large.
He hoped the youth of the State used the event as an opportunity to build new relationship and get to know each other irrespective of which district or area they are from. He further said the department would seek assistance from the ministry in order to organize such events in the coming days. He added such events would usher in cultural exchanges and youth festivals in the state.
Altogether, 88 participants from 10 districts turned up for the 3 day event. The program highlights included trekking to Dzukou valley, sightseeing in and around Kohima, trip to Dzulekie, rappelling, river crossing, fire making, basic survival techniques etc.
The flag off program was attended among others by officials of the department and leaders of various organizations from Viswema village.
