PEREN, May 19: The mega Legal Services Camp was organised by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) and Peren District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Government Departments, Stakeholders and Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the presence of Chief Justice Ajit Singh, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court (Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh) and Patron-in- Chief NSLSA as Chief Guest at Local Ground , Peren on Saturday 19th May, 2018.
Chief Justice Ajit Singh in his speech stressed on the need to extend protection to the people. He said that the Camp is to make understand the schemes and make awareness on eliminating child marriage and discrimination in the state.
Justice L.S. Jamir, Judge of Gauhati High Court and Executive Chairman of NSLSA delivered the keynote address where he stressed on the need to create awareness and empowerment through the Mega Legal Services Camp. Justice Jamir informed that the Mega Legal Services Camps began since January, 2018 and will also be launched at Phek in June. He said 30 stalls have been opened in the camp for free service which can be availed by the people.
Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Smita Sarangi, IAS expressed gratitude to the public people for attending the Mega Legal Services Camp with great enthusiasm and asked them to utilize the facilities from the camp.
The Chief Justice released NSLA’s theme song “Sob ke insaf dibo” (lyricist Along Longchar/ composer Sunep Lemtur). Vote of thanks was proposed by Somet Chumden Chang, NJS Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, Peren District Legal Services Authority. Mezivolu T. Therieh, NJS, Member Secretary of NSLSA chaired the programme.
30 stalls of various government Departments and Non- Governmental Organisations including 36 Assam Rifles Karam Veer were set up. Short felicitations by Nagaland Legal Services Authority and Zeliang People Organisation were the other highlights of the programme.
Registrar General Robin Phukhan, Principal Secretary to the CJ Raktim Duarah, Registrar of Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench and Secretary of Law, Government of Nagaland with officials of government departments, students, public leaders and denizen of Peren attended the camp.
