Open-air Swearing-in ceremony at Kohima Local Ground went extra-Constitutional – Sazo

KOHIMA, Mar 8 (NEPS): Former Speaker and senior NPF legislator Chotisuh Sazo termed as “extra-Constitutional” the manner in which the first time open-air swearing-in ceremony for the new NDPP-BJP Government headed by Neiphiu Rio was organized at the Kohima Local Ground.

“We are happy that they organized an open-air swearing-in ceremony of the new Ministry at the Kohima Local Ground,” said Sazo who won for the third time on NPF ticket from the 18 Chozuba Assembly Constituency. However, nowhere in the history of the swearing-in ceremony of any Governments had there been any other activities and programs other than displaying the “National Anthem” on two times – when the Governor arrives and when the swearing-in ceremony is over, he added. But songs and Chief Minister’s Speech were among others that displayed during the “swearing-in ceremony” that was attended among others by four Chief Ministers of the region, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, besides Union Ministers Nirmala, Kiren Rejiju, BJP National leaders Amit Shah and Ram Madhav. “They are showing not only over-smart but extra-Constitutional,” he added.

On the BJP’s taking away of six Cabinet Ministers including Deputy Chief Minister while leaving only four to NDPP and one each to JDU and Independent, Sazo said it appeared Rio had already been squeezed by the BJP Central leaders. He further claimed that not only that six Minister going to the BJP, even Lok Sabha MP seat was also assured to the BJP, besides 40% posts in CMO to them (BJP).

“Going by the trend, it is clear he will be a remote-controlled Chief Minister,” the NPF legislator stated.

Interestingly, the Central leaders, be it Ministers or BJP leaders who attended the ceremony refused to comment anything on the ceremony when they were asked by the press after the ceremony.
