227 candidates found valid after scrutiny of their nomination papers

KOHIMA, Feb 8 (NEPS): Scrutiny of nomination papers filed by 257 candidates for the elections to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly was carried out across the State today. Nagaland has 60 Assembly Constituencies and these 257 candidates filed their nomination papers for the elections in their respective Assembly Constituencies.

It may be mentioned that candidates of various political parties started filing their nominations from 6 February. 22 candidates only filed their nominations on 6 February and 235 candidates filed on the last date of filing nominations, that is, 7 February 2018.


During the scrutiny conducted today, 227 candidates were found valid while 29 were invalid. However, scrutiny of one candidate under 33 Suruhoto Assembly Constituency has been adjourned to 10 February 2018, according to a press release issued by Additional CEO Nagaland, N. Moa Aier.

The last date of Withdrawal of Nomination is 12 February 2018. The date of Polling is 27 February, counting of Votes is 3 March and the completion of  Election process is 5 March.
