KOHIMA, Nov 27 (NEPS): Central BJP leader said they were committed to bringing peace and development in the State of Nagaland.
Talking to media persons here at The Heritage on Wednesday, National BJP General Secretary, Ram Madhav, who is in-charge of NE and J & K BJPs, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was committed to bringing lasting peace in Nagaland and the NE region.
PM had initiated dialogues with NSCN (IM) and subsequently now with the six Naga Political Group (NPGs), he said and further exuded confidence that the dialogues would finally lead to a “comprehensive solution” to the vexed longstanding Naga political issue. “Once it reaches a final solution, the end result will be a win-win situation to the entire NE region,” he stated and asserted that “a lasting peace is what BJP has promised to Nagaland.”
Asked about NSCN (K) which walked away from the ceasefire in March 2015, Madhav said right now the other six NPGs started holding dialogues with the Government of India. However, he expressed confidence that NSCN (K) would make up their minds for the larger peace. He hoped they would come forward.
Madhav also disclosed that his two-day visit to State Capital Kohima was to prepare for the next Nagaland assembly elections and for which they had organizational meetings since his arrival at State Capital Kohima yesterday and today.
Disclosing that their party cadres had expressed their desire to contest in all the sixty Assembly constituencies in Nagaland, the National BJP leader said they were still having hectic discussions on that.
Asked his comments on NPF’s severing ties with BJP in Nagaland, Madhav, without reacting to it, said that NPF had been facing an internal crisis at the moment. He said they had been in alliance with NPF, “which is a partner with NDA more than two decades.” “At the same time, we are in Government here in Nagaland,” he said. He, however, stated that the people of Nagaland were looking an alternative to the present Government.
The national BJP leader also met Chief Minister TR Zeliang at the latter’s official residence this morning.
Nagaland State BJP President Vosasolie Lhoungu was also present during the press briefing.
