Governor Acharya said he was consulting with his constitutional luminaries to act on appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries, Advisers

KOHIMA, Sept 18 (NEPS): Nagaland Governor PB Acharya admitted that he had received the representation which was submitted to him by Nagaland Tribes’ Council (NTC) with regard to the Supreme Court judgement against the appointment of the Parliamentary Secretaries and Advisers in the States.

The SC judgement said the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries and Advisers was unconstitutional.” Currently, Nagaland has 26 Parliamentary Secretaries and 9 Advisers. In this regard, NTC, earlier, submitted a representation to him at Raj Bhavan Kohima along with the SC Judgement saying the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries and Advisers is “unconstitutional” and asking him to act on it.


During a press conference held here at the Raj Bhavan Conference Hall on Monday, he was asked whether he would act on the SC judgement with regard to the appointment of the Parliamentary Secretaries and Advisers in the State. He replied that he was consulting with the constitutional luminaries as to how he would act on it. He also disclosed that Mizoram and Meghalaya had already acted on the SC judgement.


He also said he had to honor the Court judgement but awaiting the outcome of his constitutional luminaries on it.
