Blood Donation Camp held at Assam Rifle Unit Hospital at Tsiesema Basa 

KOHIMA, Par 4: A blood donation camp was held on 4th April 2017 at Assam Rifle Unit Hospital Tsiesema Basa. The donation camp was organized by Voluntary Blood Donor Association Kohima in collaboration with the Kripa Foundation and Blood Bank Naga Hospital Authority Kohima.

Seeing the need and shortage of blood in the Blood Banks, the aim of VBDA is to promote and create awareness on the voluntary blood donation in the state. The association has been working on the need to bridge the gap on the shortage of blood in various blood bank all over the state. It also focuses on the life-saving gift of voluntary donation purely for altruistic reasons. The main goal is to wipe out the scarcity of blood and ensure availability of safe and quality blood and also to motivate and encourage the voluntary blood donors and gradually eliminate the professional blood donor in the market. It aims to educate the community on the beneficial aspect of blood donation and the harmful effects of receiving from professional donors. It also assists the various organization, clubs, and educational institution to conduct blood donation camp. Altogether 25 jawans from 9th Assam rifles donated blood.

With the support of public, bureaucrats, media campaign and community-based activities, the growing movement of voluntary blood donation in Nagaland is improving. One of the main focus of VBDA is to maintain the foundation of supplying blood that is needed for the patients.
