DIMAPUR, Mar 29: Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, graced the Dimapur District Youth Convention 2016-17 organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dimapur on 29th March 2017.
Addressing the gathering at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur DC said that if we look at the history of human civilisation and the situation of where we started, it is time to deeply introspect where we came from and where we want to head. He said that Nagas are fighting among themselves for small things whereas in some part of the world people are in space sacrificing their lives, with a vision for the sake of humanity. He therefore called upon the youth leaders gathered to broaden their vision as potential within is unimaginable and can do series of things for the society.
He felt that climate change is one area where youth should seriously take up and also the system and practices of election and electioneering in the state. Instead of blaming the government, he asked, “what is your contribution to cleanse the system?” The DC further urged the youth to go back to villages to educate and revive as 80% of the nagas live in rural areas and if they do not revive the society will not move forward.
UNV-DYC, NYK, Dimapur, K. Phyobemo Lotha in his keynote address said that the purpose of conducting the youth convention is to come together to share the experiences and programmes. He also briefed the objectives of NYK during his speech.
The inaugural function was chaired by National Youth Volunteer, Mhono Ngulie while vote of thanks was proposed by National Youth Volunteer, Dimapur, Kelechuto Kin.
