Advocacy Workshop at Niuland

DIMAPUR, Mar 23: Advocacy workshop for the Principals/teachers under Niuland sub division on tobacco control laws was held in ADC’s conference hall on 22nd March 2017.

Imkum, Psycologist NTCP gave a detailed presentation on the behavioral pattern of tobacco use in children. V. Lovitoly Sema, ADC Niuland and Piholi SDEO Niuland also addressed the gathering.

Dr. C. Tetseo oriented the teachers on the importance of creating awareness about the ill effects of tobacco consumption. He expressed apprehension that an epidemic is looming large over Nagaland because of the high consumption of tobacco and to spread awareness on the impacts of tobacco consumption and health issues associated with it.

The ADC encouraged the teachers to be a role model and that the provision of laws are there to support them. The ADC appealed to the gathering to fight against tobacco and its ill effects to make Niuland sub division a cleaner, healthier sub-division and contribute towards declaring Dimapur a smoke free zone. A large number of teachers from government schools under Niuland sub division attended the training and they assured to put in their best efforts to take the Anti-tobacco campaign forward in their respective schools.
