John Government Higher Secondary School observes its 70th Anniversary

 

JAKHAMA, Aug 29: John Govt. Hr. Secondary School Viswema observed its 70th Anniversary at JGHSS Assembly Hall with Secretary NPSC, Khrupi Sothu as the Chief Guest.


The chief guest in his speech expressed gratitude to the founder members and land donors who had a vision for betterment of the future generation and opened the school. JGHSS is 70 years old and is considered third oldest school in Nagaland which has produced a number of great leaders, bureaucrats in different fields from Southern Angami villages and other Naga villages from the neighouring state of Manipur. He said that earlier the school was considered as one of the best schools in Nagaland but with the fast paced changes in the education sector, the school performance is sadly sliding backward compared to the last ten years.


The state government had fulfilled the prolonged yearning of the school to have Higher Secondary and upgraded the school in 2014. Besides we now have HSSLC exam Centre, he stated.  The first batch of HSSLC 2016 result was 70.59 % pass percentage which shows the sincerity and dedication of the teaching faculty members. He called upon all the stakeholders teachers, parents, students, the managing board and all concerned to work together for improving the school. He also challenged the participants to wake up from stagnancy and bring progress and development.

Krope Koza, Headmaster in his welcome address said that the commemoration of 70th years of JGHSS in a special manner is for the upcoming platinum Jubilee celebration which is to take place in 2021 and also to create awareness among the well- wishers.

Vikluto John, Sop, Peren, Rusovil John, member secretary, Nagaland Pollution Control Board, SMB, K.N. Pusha and U.K.Nair also gave short speeches. Special songs were presented by JHSS choir, Tati song by Beizo and Kuolemenuo. The chief guest also released the School magazine. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.Chumbeni Kikon, Principal JHSS.
