Legal Literacy Awareness Program held Phek

PHEK, Jul 30: Legal Literacy Awareness Programme was held at Phek District in the DPDB conference hall, Phek on 29th July 2016 which was organized by Phek District Legal Service Authority.

In the meeting, a short speech was delivered by Phek SDO Civil Moa where he said that we need to have our own customary court so that our rights are secured and safe. He called upon the DBs and GBs to maintain law and order in order to give justice to our people in the right direction.

Customary Court Phek Head DB, Khuvotso also spoke on the occasion where he thanked the resource persons and also stated that we need to change our mindset and called upon his colleagues not to forget what they taught us so that law and orders are maintained in the right direction.

Resource persons included Longshithung Ezung, District & Session Judge/ PDLSA Chairman where he said that one should know rules of Motor Vehicle Act, Consumer Protection Act etc and called upon the gathering to use our rights in the proper manner. He also said Village council or other any other NGO should not take laws in their own hand but should inform concerned authorities for necessary action.


Rukuvolu Vero, Panel Lawyer PDLSA said that one should take the court as an opportunity/ advantage as it help us in finding out our rights. The topics of day included “Civil Action” and “the Village Council Act”.
