KOHIMA, Jul 20: A workshop for students on harmful effects of tobacco and COTPA 2003 was held on July 20th 2016 at LCS Building, Kohima.
During the workshop, social worker, DTCC, Achila gave a powerpoint presentation on tobacco hazards and encouraged the students to spread awareness wherever they go for their further studies.
Dr. Arenla walling, District Nodal Officer, DTCC Kohima encouraged the students to voice out against the people who smoke in the public places to make Kohima a smoke free city. She also bid farewell to Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DLCC, Rovilatuo Mor where she expressed her gratitude for his efforts during the NTCP activities and reinforcement regulation advocated by the programme. She also appreciated the initiatives taken during his chairmanship such as declaration to make Kohima smoke free city on 28th April 2016 which was in consonance with the Government policy in making Kohima a smart city.
DC Kohima Rovilatuo Mor IAS who also chaired the programme said that the project of smoke free city would not be successful without the commitment of the people. He also mentioned that students and teachers of 24 schools and institutions to be the ambassador to spread the awareness on hazards of tobacco and smoke to make Kohima smoke free city. Altogether 24 schools with teachers attended the programme.
