ZUNHEBOTO, Jun 13: A one-day seminar on Agri and allied sector was held on 11th June 2016 at Natha Old Village, Zunheboto. The program was organized by Green Club, Zunheboto in collaboration with Land Resource, Horticulture and Agriculture Department.
Speaking as a resource person on the theme 'Natural Resource Management', WMT, LRD, Khenito Yeptho spoke on the government flagship programs like Integrated Water Shed Management and urged the villagers to cooperate and make use of government projects. He also spoke on the necessity of tree plantations for long term benefit.
Inspector, Horticulture, Vikheto Assumi deliberated on the importance of Horticulture products like Cardamom, Orange, Kiwi and Banana which are of great economic values for which he said that plantation must be conducive and adaptable to climatic conditions.
Agriculture Officer, Benoto Kiba also spoke on Organic Farming with sustainable agriculture practice wherein he asked the participants to go for organic cultivation and practice indigenous pest control instead of using fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides.
ADC, Zunheboto, Nungsangmenla Imchen who was also present assured to give more help and support to Natha Old Village in making a Green Model Village for which she encouraged the villagers for cooperation.
The seminar was attended among others by Vice President, Sumi Hoho, Khehoshe Yepthomi, GBs and farmers.
