Kohima district observed 125th birth anniversary of  Dr. Ambedkar

KOHIMA, Apr 1: The celebration of 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar Youth Convention and Rally for National Unity was held at T.M. Government Higher Secondary School (TMGHSS), Kohima with Rev. Fr and Dr. A.J. Sebastian, SDB former Prof. HOD English NU as the chief guest on 31st March 2016.

In a short function, the chief guest stated "we have many tribes in Nagaland, we should not fight among ourselves, instead we should together build peace in our land". He urged the participants to encourage one another in keeping up better relationship by throwing away tribalism so as to have a better place to live in.


Delivering the keynote address, ZD, NYKS, Jackie Ruivah said that the commemoration was meant to facilitate the people in general and youths in particular to come together and live together, to generate caste free society, to fight against social evils and to foster the feeling of brotherhood and National unity. Stating that Government of India has decided to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by organizing different types of programs and activities across the country, he informed that NYKS has been entrusted with the responsibility to commemorate 125th Birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar in 105 districts across the country, financially supported by the Dr. Ambedkar foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.


The Peace walk rally was flagged-off by the chief guest, Rev. Fr and Dr. A.J. Sebastian, SDB at TMGHSS which culminated at Khouchiezie (local ground). Welcome address was delivered by DYC, NYKS Kohima, John Makhabo and Principal of TMGHSS also exhorted the participants. Altogether around 250 students from TMGHSS participated in the rally.
