DIMAPUR, Oct 21: The two-day Cultural Carnival organized by the North East Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, GOI, in collaboration with Eastern Nagaland Women Organization (ENWO) got underway today 21st October 2015, at the NEZCC Complex Dimapur.
Nagaland Minister Social Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs, Kiyanilie Peseyie, who graced the inaugural programme as the chief guest observed that Eastern Nagaland Women’s Cultural Carnival have common threads of renewing and strengthening social bonds and preserving rich cultural heritage. He reminded them that in today’s competitive world, there is no substitute for hard work. “We must remember that nobody will come forward to physically lift us out of backwardness, for it will only happen through our own efforts’, he maintained.
Pointing that DAN government gives top priority to Women Oriented Development Programmes which directly benefits women folk, he encouraged them to come forward and be actively involved in the development activities of the government. He further advised them to be practical and realistic so as to stand up and meet the challenges confronting them today and in the process carve out a better world for themselves and the younger generation.
“Let us join hands to bring Unity, Peace and Prosperity to our land, for without peace there will be no development”, he appealed.
Minister Rural Development, REPA, C.L. John lauded the efforts of ENWO in organizing such event and commented, “This shows our advancement’. Without culture/ festival there will be no tribe and no nation, he further said. Stressing on the importance of work culture, C.L John said that culture is not just about dancing and dressing but to bring reformation through work culture.
Highlights of the inaugural programme included Konki folk instrumental by Changsao Thangjan Setshang folk fore(history of Princess Watlong and Prince Godhardour) by Konyak Nyupuk Sekho khong, Moonlight folk song by Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikan. President, ENWO, Mrs. Birila Tokiu delivered the welcome note while Vice President ENWO, Imoto Phom compered the programme. After the inaugural programme the chief guest along with his colleagues visited the six tribal stalls.
Amongst other dignitaries, Advisor DUDA Thongwang, party officials, NEZCC officials also attended the programme. (DIPR)
