MON, Oct 13: A one day Orientation and Special Registration Camp was conducted at Wangkhao Government College, Mon on Monday at the College hall. The Purpose of the program was to ensure that the youths specially the students who are the strength of the society are well informed on the Clean Electoral Roll, Ethical Voting, Special Summary Revision 2016 and SVEEP Campaign 2015 for clean Election. It also aimed to communicate the information to the masses by the students.
While briefing on the key note address, the Deputy Commissioner, Mon W. Honje Konyak appealed to the students’ community to play a positive role for purification of Electoral Roll for free and fair elections. He informed that random photographs with mismatching in the E/Roll, wrong particulars of the voters, under-age entry, double entry, non-deletion of dead people, etc were found during the NERPAP campaign. He, therefore, urged upon the students to say no to such bad practices which are destroying the democracy, and further said as an educated individual and with Christian principles, they must speak the truth by correcting it.
The DC also stressed on the organizational set up of Election Commission of India at various levels and their duties and functions. He also emphasized the importance of voters registrations, accurate information in the E/roll and value of voting rights and urged upon the students to disseminate the information to the grass roots level.
The ADC Mon, M.A. Shahib, IAS who is the ERO of the district called upon the students to act as agents of social change for accurate and error free Electoral Roll. He said they would be held responsible for their own exercise if they failed to correct themselves within the given period. He gave a power point presentation on Orientation on Clean E/Roll and Ethical Voting.
AEO Mon, Akheto Shohe presented a brief account on the Special Summary Revision 2016. This was followed by question hour and interaction with the students. Earlier, the Principal Wangkhao College, Ngangshikokba Ao proposed a short speech and urged the students to avail the opportunity provided for the practical approach to electing responsible leaders through clean E/Roll. The Program was chaired by College BLO, Dr. Nshoga.
