Totok Villages receive water supply

MON, Sept 21: Advisor DUDA & LMCP and Chairman DPDB Mon, N. Thongwang Konyak inaugurated water reservoir and pipeline connection to Totok Chingnyu village on Friday.

Expressing his gratitude to the Mohung Village for providing water source to the three villages of Totok, the Advisor DUDA & LMCP informed that the kind gesture of the Hohung village had resolved the water problems faced by these three villages for many years.

Asserting that development could not be implemented in disputed areas, he advised the elders of Mohung and three Totoks to extend cooperation and support to each other and also to respect the sentiments of others to maintain peace and tranquility in the region.

Thongwang further urged upon the people to take the responsibility of the ownership of the pipeline and the water reservoir and emphasized on proper maintenance and care. He also assured to provide spare pipes and other equipment to ensure that water connectivity in these three villages is not interrupted. He also urged the people to have a close relationship with the department and support the Government.

Executive Engineer PHED, Mon, Er. Liang presented a technical report of the pipe connection project.  He appreciated the World Vision India for completing the unfinished task left by the Department. He informed that the quantity of water supply is above standard and is more than sufficient.  He also advised the people to change the attitude and mindset of the people to march ahead with others.

Nokyam Wangnao, CDC Mon ADP, World Vision India in his speech informed that World Vision is a Christian Humanitarian Organization (NGO) functioning and depending on the contributions from other individuals and organizations.  He informed that funds are judiciously executed to reach the targeted groups in the grass root level.

He also pointed out that the reason behind the project was to have sanitation and hygienic living in the village and to lessen the duty of the mothers to cater quality time with their children. He urged the people to judiciously utilize the opportunity provided for quality and healthy living.

The PTIC Mon ADP, World Vision David, Head GB of Mohung village, Landowner and Watsan Committee of Totok Chingnyu village also spoke at the program.  Earlier, the Chief Angh of Totok Chingnyu Y. Tongem proposed the welcome address while the vote of thanks was proposed by P. Angtong Chairman Totok Chingnyu village council. The dedication prayer was proposed by Rev. Henshak Pastor Totok Chingnyu Baptist Church and the program concluded with a benediction by Nyeiwang Pastor Totok Chingha Baptist Church.

The World Vision India has constructed two numbers of tanks for two colonies and one big main water reservoir besides providing GI Pipes for distribution lines completing 17 public points were connected. (DIPR)
