MON, Sept 15: A meeting of the heads of offices of Mon district was held in regards to update the India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN) related to the Disaster Management at DC’s conference hall, Mon on 14th Sept. 2015.
Deputy Commissioner, Mon W. Honje Konyak who chaired the program welcomed the members present and expressed his happiness for the good attendance of the heads of offices. He also urged upon the heads of offices to be sincere in providing information of the inventories of resources available in their respective departments for updating in the IDRN which would be required for emergency response during disasters. He also urged the Officers to be prepared to face any disasters and give importance to disaster management programs. He also emphasized on the need for training the officers and framing of Mon District Disaster Management plan and the challenges ahead for the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)
ADC Mon M.A. Shihab, IAS informed the heads of offices to collect accurate equipments and skilled human resources available in the departments for updating in the IDRN to utilize the available resources in times of disasters. He also appealed to the officers to be fully aware of the realistic exercise to challenge any disaster in the district. He informed the heads of offices to furnish the inventory of equipments in the prescribed format to the DC office on or before the 30th of Sept. 2015.
IDRN is a web based platform for managing the inventory of equipment, skilled human resources and critical supplies for emergency response. The primary focus is to enable the decision makers to find answers on availability of equipments and human resources required to combat any emergency situation. This database also enables disaster managers to assess the level of preparedness for specific disasters, and find the location and the details of the resources available for immediate and effective response.
