Chief  Secretary  exhorts  engineers

KOHIMA, Sept 15: The commemoration of Engineer’s Day of Federation of Nagaland State Engineer’s Service Association (FONSESA) was held under the banner of ‘Excellence through Professionalism’ with Chief Secretary Nagaland, Pankaj Kumar IAS as the Chief Guest on 15th September 2015 at the Engineer-in- Chief Conference Hall, NPWD Complex, Kohima.

Chief Secretary,Pankaj Kumar in his address said that he also being an Engineer is extremely happy to be a part of the Engineer’s Day. He said that the profession of Engineer is challenging and the responsibility, whether big or small project to be design, depends on him further stating that well begin is half done. He said that Engineers should project their works in time and execute the work smoothly. The Chief Secretary also encouraged the Engineers to be competent of project management, good design and supervise their assigned work. He also urged upon the FONSESA to work satisfactorily on their assigned duties as by being reliable Engineers of the State.


Retired Engineer, Lanu Toy also attended the function and the association honoured him for being the seniormost member. A booklet on ‘Engineering applications in our daily lives’ published by Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Services Association was also released by the Chief Secretary, Pankaj Kumar in commemoration of the Engineers Day.


Speaking on the significance of Engineer’s Day, President FONSESA, Er. R. Temsutemjen said that Engineers Day is celebrated all over India every year marking the birthday of Mokshagundam Visvesvarya who was born in the year 1860 in the then Kingdom of Mysore and also a pre-eminent engineer. He encouraged the engineers to emulate the great and wonderful person that Visvesvarya was and to give and sacrifice their best for the development and advancement of the country in general and state in particular. Adding that Engineers are a professional group of people on whom a lot of things depend on how progress can be achieved. He appealed to the engineers to make a pledge to give their best to take our State to greater heights through sincere efforts.

Chief Engineer (T&G), Department of Power, Er. K. Miacheo in his short speech stated that Engineers Day is meant to rededicate themselves for the people in the State. He urged the FONSESA members to strive, cultivate and promote the rich engineering ethics and culture, safeguard common interest and contribute towards all round development of the State. He also suggested the federation to provide a common platform to promote the professional interest in various disciplines of engineering professions in the State and to exchange views amongst engineers towards improving proficiency in public service.

The function was chaired by Er. Shikato Sema Vice President, FONSESA and vote of thanks was delivered by Er. Limanaro, SE, NPWD.
