State  level  training  on  summary  revision  of Photo Electoral Roll 2016

KOHIMA, Sept 8: A State Level Training on Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll, 2016 for EROs & AEROs/AEOs was held at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima on 8th September 2016 which was organised by the Chief Electoral Officer’s Office, Kohima, Nagaland.

Chief Electoral Officers (CEO) Nagaland, Sanjay Kumar, IAS while giving the keynote address said that one of the important ingredients of Election is the processes of election starting with preparation of Electoral Roll. He stated that malpractices like money, alcohol during election is just one side of the corruption but more concern is over the content of illegal, underage, bogus and double entry of voters. He also mentioned that the Election Commission of India is devoted to ensure clean, complete error free, duplicate entry in the Electoral Roll.

Chief Electoral Officer urged the gathering to work hard towards bringing significance charges in ensuring sensible electoral Roll as they are custodians of Electoral Roll who has the authority under the law who are bestowed with all legal powers to enter or delete the electoral Roll. Kumar also urged the gathering to pay attention to person with disabilities, women specially widows and also to figure out how to reach out to people settled abroad and also immigrant labourers.

He also announced the appointment of Miss Nagaland as State Icon to help spread the importance of clean Electoral Role who would be visiting the entire district as part of the clean electoral roll campaign

Joint Chief Electoral Officer, N. Moa Aier gave a paper presentation on Legal Provision and Structures for Roll Revision. He called on the participants to do their duty without partiality and not to succumb to any pressure. He also mentioned the assurance given by the Political Parties, NGOs, and Tribal Hohos toward ensuring a fair Electoral Roll in the State. N.Moa further informed the gathering that the best EROs & AEROs/AEOs will be awarded with cash and certificate at the end of the exercise.

Chief Electoral Officer, Roukuovituo Khezhie, interaction and valedictory & summing up by Dy. Chief Electoral Officer, Khekugha Sema.
