HUNG, Sept 7: Mokokchung DPDB meeting was held in the conference hall of ADC planning on 7th Setember 2015. The meeting was chaired by DPDB Chairman, Amenba Yaden.
The meeting attended by Deputy Speaker, Imtikumzuk, Parliamentary Secretary V & AH S. Chuba, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism C. Apok and MLA Imkong L. Imchen and Merentoshi took up discussions on the grand celebration of Mokokchung town 125 years which completes this year.
After marathon discussions, the meeting decided to give a final shape to the programme prepared by Mokokchung District Art and Culture council and also to fix a convenient date for the celebration either in November or December. The House felt that the occasion should be made in such a way enabling every denizens of Mokokchung town to take part in the celebration. The meeting also deliberated on mobilization of fund for the celebration.
The meeting also reviewed the prevailing power crisis in Mokokchung town. During discussions Er. Moa Executive engineer Mokokchung division informed the members about the unfortunate damage of 33/11 Kv Transformer which is under repairing at Dimapur. He said department is making efforts to restore the normal power supply as soon as the transformer is repaired. EE also informed the members that chief Engineer Power is serious about the problem prevailing in Mokokchung town and assured that it would be restored at the earliest. Following the break down of the main transformer Mokokchung town plunged into intermittent power supply with the existing 2.5 MW transformer thereby creating public hue and cry.
The board members expressed gratitude to Chief Engineer Power for his assurance to look into the crisis with all seriousness.
Meanwhile the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem submitted a Three-Point Memorandum to the DC Mokokchung to look into the power crisis stating that the citizens of Mokokchung town are the sufferers for more than two weeks.
