KOHIMA, May 29: The Governor of Nagaland P.BAcharya felicitated the toppers and rank holders of HSLC and HSSLC 2015, on 20th May 2015 at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima in the presence of Minister, School Education, Yitachu, parents of the successful students, Commissioner & Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, F.P Solo and officials from School Education department.
Speaking on the occasion, P.B Acharya congratulated the toppers and commented that though a small state, when it comes to empowerment through education, Nagaland State is second to none.
Acharya said that India has 68% youth population, where even China cannot beat us and termed it as an asset stating that youth of a country are a greater asset. For serving a nation youth can be a great source he reminded and called upon the educational institutions for producing young people equipped with skills.
‘Skill is very important and just holding a degree will not take you anywhere’, he added. Describing the students gathered as the cream of Nagaland’s 2015, youth, P.B Acharya exhorted them by saying education should give you a thought for strengthening the country. ‘Your knowledge should not be only for you but for your village, your state and the country’, he maintained.
The Governor presented the Governor’s Award and Certificates to the toppers and the rank holders during the occasion.
Nagaland Minister for School Education, Yitachu while addressing on the occasion, pointed out that around 20,000 youths has either failed or has been dropped out during the recently held HSLC and HSSLC and felt that there was a need to find out the actual cause. “We have to find out whether the fault lies with the department, teachers or students and have to ascertain the cause with serious concern”, Yitachu said. Let us put our heads together, share out concern together and give a better future for the younger generation to march forward, the Education Minister appealed.
Minister Yitachu congratulated the young students and felt that receiving certificates and the hand shaking with the Head of the State at Durbar Hall while celebrating their achievements, the morale of the young students would further be boosted with more confidence to achieve greater heights.
Commissioner & Secretary Higher & Technical Education, SCERT and School Education, F.P. Solo delivered a short speech while Chairman NBSE, Asano Sekhose presented the welcome address.
Other highlights of the programme included short speeches by the toppers, interaction with toppers and rank holders with the Governor, special songs by students of Ruzhukhrie GHSS Kohima and students of North Field, Khikha. (DIPR)
