NAGALAND  HOME  MINISTER  URGES  NPGs  FOR  ONE  COMMON  PLATFORM  FOR  EARLY  SOLUTION

MON, May 28: Nagaland Home Minister Y. Patton called upon the people to play a diplomatic role for unification of all the Naga underground factions under one common platform so as to bring early solution to Naga political issue to an end which is acceptable to all. He was addressing the inaugural function of the Longching EAC headquarter on 27th May 2015. In order to pave way for early solution to the Naga political issue all the political parties in the state have come together and formed an opposition less Government under the Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang, he added.

Calling upon the Naga Political factions to come together under one roof he said Indian Government is seriously concern for the unity and reconciliation of all factions to bring a lasting solution to the Naga political issue. Observing that unless all factions unite there would be no solution to the problem he said this was disclosed by the then Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh when all the 60 elected members meet him and Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi.

Patton also informed that there shouldn’t be landowner issue when development is initiated in the administrative HQ. He also assured to provide all possible assistance for development of the areas provided the people extent full cooperation and support to the Government.

Minister for Rural Development C.L. John in his speech said Retention of EAC HQ Longching is a blessing for the Konyak people in general and the Longching area in particular. He informed that to ensure peace and development a government comprising of all political parties of the state was formed to fulfill the theme “Nagaland for Christ” and appealed to all Naga political factions to unite for early solution.

Parliamentary Secretary for IPR Khekaho Assumi in his short speech said that Government alone cannot bring change and development in the society without the role of the people as a pressure group to check the activities of the Government which is lacking in Naga society. He said Konyaks are not backward but economically behind others but this can be remove by the good role and team work of the people. He also urged the people to donate free land for development of the barren land for good administrative HQ.

Parliamentary Secretary for Sericulture & Home Guards & Civil Defence E.E. Pangteang clarified to the people regarding upgradation of EAC post Longching and shifting it to Angjangyeang and retention of EAC post again to Longching as per the wishes and desire of the people. He also urged upon the people not to make landownership issue a hindrance to development.

Parliamentary Secretary Art & Culture Eshak Konyak thanked the Government under the leadership of T. R. Zeliang for retention of EAC Post to Longching which according to him was a dream come true. He also appealed to the Government officers and staffs under Longching EAC to be regular and present in their place of posting for the welfare of the people.  Parliamentary Secretary CAWD Y.M. Yollow also delivered short speech.


Other public leaders who spoke on the occasion included Honang Konyak General Secretary ENSF, Adhoc Chairman Angjangyang SDO Civil, President Konyak Union Aboi unit and President NPF 48 A/C Moka.


Earlier Invocation was proposed by Heangpa Pastor Longching town Baptist Church, Welcome address by Mr. Hewang Konyak President KU Unit Longching and keynote address was proposed by Maopong Konyak Convenor Retention Committee.

The program was chaired by ADC Mon. Highlights of the day long function was marked by Cultural dances by men & women troupes and special numbers by the students and youths of the Longching.

The Home Minister was accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary, New & Renewable Energy, Fire & Emergency Services, Toyang Changkong Chang Advisor DUDA Thongwang and Pangnyu Phom MLA.
