E.E. PANGTEANG  ADDRESSES  HOME  GUARDS  COORDINATION  MEETING

KOHIMA, May 19: Parliamentary Secretary for Home Guards, E.E. Pangteang called on the Home Guard department’s officers to render selfless service towards development of the Home Guard department in the State, while addressing the 1st departmental co-ordination meeting with him on 19th May 2015 at the Home Guards Headquarter, Kohima.

E.E. Pangteang expressed his gratitude to the personnel of Home Guard for their dedicated services rendered to the State including delivering of smooth flow of vehicles during peak hour especially in Kohima and Dimapur. He requested them to continue rendering their services in the same spirit. He asked the responsible officers to come up with concrete comprehensive action plan for alleviation and development of the Home Guard organization in Nagaland and assured to pursue in within his level/capacity.

The Parliamentary Secretary also urged the officers and staff to renew their dedication to serve the people and seek their support and co-operation for a ‘Good team work’ to achieve their goals in the days to come.


Additional Director, Civil Defense & Deputy Commandant, General Home Guards, Medozhalie Pienyu gave a brief power point presentation on the activities of the department. He gave a brief description on the activities, structure, duties, plans and proposals of the department.


He explained that the activities of the Civil Defense and Home Guard personnel not only included performing law and order duties but also helping the community during an emergency. He also said that the department has imparted training to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) drawing one company each for NAP (IR), DEF and village guard. Medozhalie also apprised the Parliamentary Secretary of the proposal to enhance the wages of Home guards from Rs 150 per head per day to Rs 300 per head per day. He also briefed the Parliamentary Secretary on the proposal of the Border Wing Battalion and opening of Civil Defense & Home Guard establishment in the tree districts of Longleng, Kiphire and Peren.

A brief introduction remark was given by Director General Civil Defense & Home Guards, Lungriading, IPS while the vote of thanks was proposed by Director, Civil Defense & Commandant, General Home Guards, Akumba Yimchungru, IPS.
