WOKHA, Apr 28: 4th Wokha District Inter Departmental Badminton Championship was held on 28th and 29th April 2015 at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Wokha. The inaugural function was graced by Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, MTF & NRE, Khriehu Liezietsu.
Addressing during the inaugural function, the Chief Guest said that Nagas both young and old are passionate about sports and despite lack of proper infrastructure, we have produced some outstanding sportspersons who have made our State and country proud. He therefore challenged the participants to concentrate in their particular field of sports and dedicate their energy and time and master the sports so that they could excel and bring laurels for themselves, state as well as the country. “I wish to stress on this because we Nagas tend to try our hands at everything and become a jack of all trades but master of none” added the chief guest. Since each and every type of games and sports demands discipline both as a professional and amateur, he encouraged the participants to keep it up and advocate discipline at all time. He further expressed views in regard to the type of sports one need to emphasis and encourage, because very often youngsters take up sports discipline that do not suit their physically. He also said, “in this day of sports and entertainment industry, you have to really focus on the talent you have and capitalise on it, as employment has become such a big problem but what better profession can one ask for if we are good in some sports, after all some of the biggest names in the world today are sports stars. So keep playing and keep encouraging others to play”.
The function was chaired by Youth Resources Officer, Wokha, K. Libemo Jami while welcome address was proposed by Deputy Commissioner, Wokha A. Robin Lotha and oath taking was administered by Nevizo Kire.
