SWACHH  BHARAT  MISSION  TO  KICK  OFF  IN  ALL  DISTRICTS  OF  NAGALAND  

KOHIMA, Apr 14: Under the compliments initiative of the Governor of Nagaland, P.B. Acharya, Swachh Bharat Mission will kick start in all the districts of Nagaland through the ambassadors nominated by the Governor of Nagaland.

The Governor convened a meeting at Raj Bhavan today, the 14th April 2015 with the 9 nominated member team for carrying forward the mission.

The Governor advised the members to form a committee and also to identify land for construction of 40 toilets in all the districts. Under the personal initiative of the Governor, a businessman from Mumbai has volunteered to construct 400 toilets in the state. In the meeting the nominated members volunteered and selected different districts to carry forward the Swachh Bharat Mission in the state.

Governor emphasised on motivating people towards the life of cleanliness and reminded that “Service to man is service to God”, which he said would be the theme of the mission. He encouraged the Swachh Bharat team to be brand ambassador in making Nagaland the best and healthy state. Commissioner & Secretary to Governor, Sanjay Kumar (IAS), said that P. B. Acharya was one amongst the 9 members picked up by the Prime Minister of India to lead the effort of cleanliness in the country, who was empowered to nominate 9 more members from respective states for effective network in carrying out the mission.

Sanjay Kumar highlighted the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission which are elimination of open defecation, Eradication of manual scavenging, modern and scientific municipal solid waste management, to effect behavioural change regarding healthy sanitation practices, General Awareness about sanitation and its linkage with public health, capacity Augmentation for ULB’s to create an enabling environment for private sector participation in Capex (Capital Expenditure) and Opex (Operation and Maintenance).


Editor Nagaland Post, Geoffrey Yaden informed in the meeting that a separate column for Swachh Bharat will be given in Nagaland Post where any activity plan for any district will be highlighted.(DIPR)
