KOHIMA, Mar 19 (NEPS): In an emergency Cabinet meeting held on 18th March 2015 at the residential office of the Chief Minister Nagaland, T.R Zeliang, the Cabinet decided for handing over the investigation of police case relating to lynching of rape accused in judicial custody by mob at Dimapur on 5th March 2015, to the CBI.
The Cabinet deliberated on the situation out of the incident involving the taking out of Syed Farid Khan, a rape accused from judicial custody in Central Jail, Dimapur and lynching him on 5th March 2015 in Dimapur.
Considering the widespread attention invited by the incident nationally and internationally, and demands made by several organizations to hand over the case to CBI, and also due to involvement of large number of people in the incident the Cabinet decided to hand over the case to CBI.
