KOHIMA, Mar 16: The Governor of Nagaland & Assam, P.B. Acharya flagged off “Call of the Brahmaputra NE Cycle Rally” at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on Sunday.

The call of the Brahmaputra NE Cycle Rally was a part of the programme initiated by ‘Sarhad’ a well-known social organisation based in Pune Maharashtra. The main motive of this Cycle Rally to the Northeastern states was to connect the heart of the people and to develop a feeling of oneness through promotion of tourism so that the people of the region would not feel a sense of isolation from the mainland India. This programme was also aimed at reaching out to the youths and the people of the seven sisters to convey a message “in vision let us work towards creating a peaceful, strong and progressive northeast”.

Altogether 20 Cyclists led by its President, Sangeev Shah participated in this mega Cycle Rally. A team of local Cyclists from the Naga blog also participated as a sign of bonhomie during the flag off ceremony programme.

Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, Khriehu Liezietsu, Commissioner and Secretary Menokhol John and officials from the department of Youth Resources & Sports took all initiatives and managed the programme successfully. Students from different colleges also attended the programme. (DIPR)
