Sazo called sports persons be harbinger of peace

CHIZAMI, Apr 22 (NEPS): The 5th Swagath Chizami Cup 2014 has formally been declared open here at Chizami today by Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Chotisuh Sazo.

There are 13 Football Clubs from various parts of Nagaland taking part in this 5th Swagath Chizami Cup 2014 which will conclude on 26th April this month.

Speaking on the inaugural function as Chief Guest, Sazo called upon the participating teams to maintain utmost disciplines while playing the match. He said sports should bring peace and harmony among the various communities and they should be the harbinger of peace in the world.

The Speaker also thanked the Organizers of the 5th Swagath Chizami Cup for successfully organizing it over the years and hoped that it would become bigger in the near future.


Sazo regretted that Naga youth used to touch every discipline but mastered none. This was how they could not become “professional,” he added, he further urged the youth to carefully choose their discipline and mastered it so that they would be professional in their sporting career thereby they would be able to compete not only in national but international area as well.


Earlier, Colo Mero, Director, Life Sports, Nagaland delivered keynote address. He called upon the participating teams to main the sporting spirit and explained that winning or losing was part of the game but the most important of all was “participating in the game.”

Later, the Chief Guest kicked the ball opening the 5th Swagath Chizami Cup 2014. Today’s Matches: The Match 1 was 5 Sector AR, Tsiesema vs Chizami Boys, while the Match 2 was Tsupfume youth Club vs Blazing Squad, Chizami.

Larger number of people witnessed the inaugural function of the 5th Swagath Chizami Cup 2014 today.
